The Brewfest Experience

September 25, 2008 at 3:14 pm (Warcraft, World of Warcraft)

Sorry, but this is a venting session.  I just have to express how freaking frustrated I am with Brewfest.  It goes without saying that I still haven’t seen either mount even drop.  I want that Kodo for my warrior so freaking bad.

(This post is being updated as brewfest continues.)

I, for One, Welcome Our New DK Overlords

September 19, 2008 at 12:02 pm (World of Warcraft)

So far in the LK beta I did one evening of just messing around, one of a couple quests in Borean Tundra, and I spent the morning today making a DK.  As someone that didn’t think they would enjoy or play the class at all in live, let me tell you that I think a DK will be my highest alt.

Whether you like the idea or not, you owe it to yourself to try them out when LK goes live.  The quests and story is really cool.  I’m still not sure why _I_ switched sides, but I’m glad my leadership did.  The playstyle is a non-issue as you’re completely overpowered when you start off in greens, and insane as you get your blue set and talent points.  My one caution is that if you really want to get into the lore, I’d recommend waiting a month if not more after release.  I don’t know how many beta players there are, but there were an insane number of DKs running around.  Launch day will have to be close to when the AQ gates were opened.  Last tip, don’t mess with talents or upgrading skills until you’re done.  You don’t need them, and the intro doesn’t really show you how the class really plays.

My biggest regret is that I can’t convert an existing character to a DK.  My warrior just recently hit 70, and now the grinds for pets and tanking gear really start.  The problem is I’ve found I really don’t like the class.  I really wish there was someway to move all those cool items I’ve aquired over the last 3 years over to a DK when the time comes so I can leave her behind.

Back to the Borean Tundra, my first wish for WotLK is to get a new bow to replace my noisy Don Santos.  On the very first quest with rewards I replaced it with this. Slightly higher DPS, and the proc (which is awesome) is replaced with some nice stats.  My only complaint was that I then had to run back to SW to replace my ammo pouch with a quiver… and then forgot to buy arrows too. I’ll take that drawback anyday.

I’m now really looking forward to LK.

I drove my daughter to daycare today and as I went through town I noticed there were a lot more flags out than normal.  I thought to myself: “I wonder what the occasion is?”  Then, I saw a sign that read:

“9/11 – Never Forget”

But I had.  I could blame it on sleep or the rain making me even more drowsy or the move, but I had forgotten that strange day that changed things.  As a memorial, I’d like to share with you the first song that the Barenaked Ladies wrote after that day.  I think it says things a lot better than I can.

Spiffy Warrior Macro

September 11, 2008 at 10:02 am (Game Design, Warcraft, World of Warcraft) ()

I try to keep this blog for hunters since I think that’s what most people come here for, but I’m trying to get my Warrior to 70 for halloween to get the squashling.  So you get a warrior update, that will hopefully inspire you to simplify your life.

I was talking with my friend the other day, complaining about my warrior’s DPS.  Things just didn’t seem to be dying as fast, but I was chalking it up to having a S1 hunter vs a 67 warrior in greens.  So we got chatting about talents, and I showed him my spec.

Armor vs Stamina

September 8, 2008 at 2:29 pm (World of Warcraft)

There’s a good question as to which is better: Stamina or Armor.  I thought I’d do some thinking into the matter and came up with some interesting results (I think).  From my review, I could tell you that I now value stamina over armor, so that’s what I started with, but it turns out that the truth is much more complex and interesting. Putting on the Breaks

September 1, 2008 at 4:35 pm (Warcraft, World of Warcraft)

I’ve been leveling up my warrior, and just hit 66.  I stored up a bunch of gear for level 66 way back before the review started, and I’m really not sure how much of it is actually upgrades now that I look at it.  On the other hand, when SSO dailies started I began to collect several level 68 sets for her.  I now have  a complete “of the Champion” and “of the Beast” waiting, as well as a set of “power/strength” to see what maxed out AP look like compared to Str/Agi/Sta.  I also have several BOE blues/epics waiting for me at 70, not to mention a pair of Blinkstrikes soon to be enchanted with Savagery.

However, I just got notice that my credit card bounced (probably due to my move), and after trips to the only 2 stores in town that would carry game cards, neither had them.  I’m prepared to say that the universe is telling me to take a break from WoW for a few days.  I’ll be back again when my credit card goes through.  I’m not burnt out or anything, but I think I could feel it coming anyway, so now’s as good a time as any.

See you in a few.
