Solo: (A+) Watch screech do its magic. Instance: (B-) Annoys all melee with wingspan and screech noise. The screech debuff can make them decent for bosses. BG: (A) Biggest, flappiest pet out there, and it does nice damage. Arena:(A) Flap, flap, flap… I cant @#%@ target the hunter! |
I had considered bats to be one of the ugliest pets in the game (champions are ravagers). However, once I tamed Vlad, he seemed like a sleek fighting machine gliding towards his target. I had the same soloing experience as with owls, where even if I did pull agro, the mob was already so close to dead that they never landed a hit. Mend pet with multiple mobs still worked as well.
The main reason I rank them above owls is they’re bigger. Half the purpose of the pet in PvP is to get in your opponent’s way and annoy them, and bats are the best for that (so far). On the other hand, you don’t want to be annoying your group/raid while running a dungeon. A pet with screech is well worth taking, but the sound and wings may get you a request to bring a different pet next time.

just out of curiosity, what spec are you testing each of these pets with? dont remember you mentioning that anywhere. If you did, sorry i didnt see it.

From what I’ve read up about pets in WotlK, they’re going to be nerfing bats, Screech is going to be replaced with Sonic Screech, which is akin to Thunderstomp. sux =(
