NF911
I drove my daughter to daycare today and as I went through town I noticed there were a lot more flags out than normal. I thought to myself: “I wonder what the occasion is?” Then, I saw a sign that read:
“9/11 – Never Forget”
But I had. I could blame it on sleep or the rain making me even more drowsy or the move, but I had forgotten that strange day that changed things. As a memorial, I’d like to share with you the first song that the Barenaked Ladies wrote after that day. I think it says things a lot better than I can.
3 day weekend
600 dollars spent
3 flights paid for
8 starbucks drinks consumed to try to relax a bit
5 types of transportation ridden (car, train, bus, plane, boat)
2 days without a nap for my daughter
3 awkward seconds between when I was asked to say something on behalf of the grandchildren, but said ‘no’ because I hadn’t known/prepared
1 grandfather’s ashes scattered
0 hours of WoW played, maybe an update tomorrow
Blog stuff
I tested the dismissing the pet by running away and it definitely does not reduce happiness by 50. You can see the testing procedure in the Rumors.
I love finding patterns, and nothing bothers me more than thinking I see one only to be proven wrong later. I had noticed the obvious pattern that the more often I update and respond to threads, and comment elsewhere, the more hits I get. This week was probably one of the better in regard to that. Coming off a really popular last week because of the drinking games, this week I posted 4 times (this is the 5th), created a new section of the FAQ, posted a few times on the official forums, tkasomething, blog azeroth, and other blog’s comments. I wasn’t trying to jack up my hits, I just found I had a lot to say this week.
The odd thing isn’t so much that hits didn’t go up, but that yesterday was my lowest day since December.
PS: I’m just pointing out something odd, not complaining.
I’m thinking of making Fridays into ‘Drinking Game Fridays.’ /target maniasarcania
Break
I have at least 5 ideas for posts, but it looks like I’m going to have to take a break from the blog. My boss is having us keep track of how much time we spend on things, which probably wouldn’t be a big deal for most people. Just stretch the time a bit so that what takes 1 hour is written as 90min right? Well I would except I don’t really do anything at all, truth be told. I used to ask everyone daily if they needed some help, but after a few months of nothing I backed off a bit. Now I’m to the point where I just sit at my desk, and do the few tasks that are assigned to me as they come trying to stretch them as long as I can to justify my employment. Anyway, I’m going to be spending a lot of time finding things to do without seeming like I have nothing to do.
I wonder how many other people in the office do the same thing…
